Damn. Just here to say I love how you write your recipes on here - the photography, the sweet menu, the stories. It just feels like it works so perfectly together. I love it. I'm trying not to subscribe to too many things right now and overload my inbox but this is making it!!

You are so lovely, thank you. But I do want to warn you that I do send our around 4 post a week because the menu usually consist of 3 items, and 1 additional Sunday post which could be about gardening or a reflective piece depends on the day. So if you just want to follow, I understand. I am trying to figure out a rhythm.

What a wonderful recipe and pointing out the key ingredient to Carne Asada and all feasts = The gathering. Sharing. Love it! Brings back memories of being in Oaxaca!

Thank you! 😊 I’d love to hear your take on a Mexican dish sometime—you have such a deep knowledge of ingredients and techniques, and I’m curious how you’d approach it.

Ohhhh-! This is going to be long. My apologies in advance-

Mexican Cuisine is so deep with so much history, full of time tested techniques and respect for the ingredients. Mexican dishes, community and the beautiful culture has made profound effect in my life. In the kitchens I’ve been, even when I didn’t initially understand what was being spoken, - we communicated through food and working together. Co-workers became friends, brothers and sisters. We shared one another’s cultures, and so much of it was exotic and yet so familiar. The key is what you’ve mentioned- sharing, and facing each other, while picking on Carne Asada, Mole coloradito con Pollo, Pescado a la Veracruzana, and countless more at the middle of the table. We would munch, we would swap stories, we would laugh. It was all so delicious and those experiences holds such a special place in my heart- and I feel more groundedness and love, when I get to have these dishes. So, each time I cook, I reference that aspect of what Mexican Cuisine means to me. It’s the real deal

I'm lost for words, I never felt so understood as a person. To have somebody love our food and culture the way you do means so much. You truly understand us and that is beautiful. Thank you ☺️
