over the years, i have listened to countless hours of ambient beats, chillhop, and electronic tracks, but a select few always find their way back into my rotation. these are 5 of my favorite lofi mixes that never fail to set the perfect mood to start my day.

my number one mix. there is no other lofi mix that can top this one for me. it just sets me in the right mood and mindset. i love it when the beat picks up after the spoken audio sample finishes. there is truly nothing else like it out there; not many creators can achieve this level of quality.

this one is much more chill, and I absolutely love it. this is definitely an account to subscribe to; the bootleg boy 2 has so many mixes i love. it is perfect for rainy days or midnight drives. also, we don’t really see this type of classic, retro loop visual art anymore. now, most of lofi playlist use AI generated artwork. which takes away from the authentic vibe of what lofi truly is.

this one is nice for midday lounging around the house while reading or working on a puzzle. honestly, one of the coolest parts about lofi is how it uses this specific type of artwork. this classic anime visual style is exactly how you can distinguish the OG, nostalgic mixes from everything else. the genre is legendary for capturing that ethereal, cool 90s and Y2K aesthetic that just instantly sets a mood.

90sFlav is one of the absolute OG’s. he helped give birth to the lofi genre. if you have listened to lofi for a while, you will instantly recognize the iconic tracks on this compilation. it is a timeless classic that never gets old. the tracks are incredibly smooth, making it the perfect background soundtrack for when you just want to zone out, watch the rain, or clear your mind after a long day.

i used to study to this one back in university and i still love reading to it today. it is so jazzy and carries a distinct autumn vibe. to me, this is the perfect soundtrack for september. i mean, who doesn’t associate cozy coffee shop vibes with autumn, right?

there is one lofi mix i been in search for the past 6 years, but i just can’t find it. I vividly remember the artwork: it had a gorgeous anime aesthetic with a bird’s-eye view looking straight down from above. it featured a girl laying on lush green grass, with beautiful sunlight filtering through the tress and casting shadows around her. I think there might have been a river flowing right next to her. not sure anymore, to be honest. maybe she was laying under a blanket.
